Elizabeth LynchNOVEMBER 28th, 1996 -- AMERSHAM, UK -- P & L Systems today announced that, contrary to rumour, Mesa for NeXTSTEP is still available. Since acquiring Mesa from Athena Design in May 1996, P & L Systems continue to sell and support the product. New versions will be announced later this year, to revitalise Mesa's success as the leading spreadsheet for NeXTSTEP. Mesa is a highly functional and fast traditional spreadsheet for NeXTSTEP with 1-2-3 and Excel interoperability, and provides a powerful API used by many of its extensive customer base.
"I have heard from a number of customers who have been told by their contacts that Mesa is no longer for sale" said Paul Lynch, Managing Director of P & L Systems. "This isn't true! Mesa has an assured future in our hands, and we have been continuing to invest in Mesa with new development. There has been a lot of talk about fall out from the NeXT developer community recently; Mesa isn't one of those products."
Mesa is available for $199 per floating license for commercial users, and $99 for academic users. The current version is 1.5B, rev 193, which is always available from ftp://ftp.plsys.co.uk/pub/Products/Mesa1.5B/. Addon products for Mesa are also available from P & L Systems. These include the Oracle Adaptor for Mesa, $350 per user; the QuickBase Adaptor for Mesa, FREE for the first user and $200 per subsequent user; HTMLTable, a free addin for exporting to HTML tables; and Informant! a Reuters data feed and distribution system.
